Best 20 Anime to Watch if You Enjoyed Sk8: The Infinity

Sk8: The Infinity is the new skateboarding anime to change the definition of sports. If you watched the TV show, then you must be a fan reading this article. And yes, there are much more anime about skateboarding, a slice of life to watch. One of my favorites is K Project. SK8 the Infinity


Shows like Sk8: The Infinity make the world fall in love with anime. Right now, it is the number one sports anime in 2023. The show is full of incredible moves on skateboards. The unique storyline makes it more worth watching. The MC of SK8, Reki, is a 17-year-old boy who will blow your mind away. It is setting the bar high for sports anime.  

SK8 the Infinity is available on Funimation and Crunchyroll for viewing. You can now watch it on Funimation with English dubs. The first season of SK8 the Infinity ended with 12 episodes. Expect a new SK8 project soon, as announced on Twitter. SK8 anime is not done yet and is preparing for a strong comeback.   

Okinawa has a group of fierce skaters competing in the S competition at midnight. It has no rules but one: to beat other rivals to win. Reiki is a high school student and a passionate skater. He brings along a new transfer student named Langa into the world of skateboarding. What happens next in this new skating anime is for you to find out.

1. Air Gear


Air Gear is one of the first anime shows about roller skating. Those of you fans of the Langa skateboard are going to love this. The MC of Air Gear rollerblades his way to stardom. Itsuki is savage in the competitive sport of Air Trek. You can enjoy watching it on Crunchyroll. Air Gear’s genre is sports with lots of comedy.

Plot

Air Gear is the story of Storm Riders who join Ikki in skating. Their adventurous quest to be on the top of the Trophaeum Tower is one of a kind. Watch to find out if Ikki will succeed on his journey to the top. 

2. Eureka 7


Eureka Seven is a 2005 award-winning anime with two seasons and fifty episodes. It was an instant hit in Japan at the time of its release. Eureka Seven AO is the sequel of Eureka Seven that aired in 2012 with twenty-four episodes. Its immense popularity also led to a feature-length anime film in 2009.

Plot

The story revolves around Renton Thurston and the outlaw group called Gekkostate. We learn more about Renton’s relationship with the mysterious pilot named Eureka. The story gets more exciting after the arrival of the Coralians. 

3. Hunter x Hunter


The Hunter x Hunter is one of the brilliant things to watch. The anime has many skating clips, even if the story is not about skating. One of the MCs called Killua shows us some dope moves on skateboards. The Hunter × Hunter 2011 reboot of the original one was released in 1999. The series is not ending yet and plans to return in 2023.

Plot

The show is not about ordinary hunting but hunting for strange beings and items. Gon Freecss follows in his father’s footsteps to become a successful hunter. Gon’s dad left him when he was a little kid. He is now old enough to seek out his father by himself. He meets and makes friends along the way as he searches for his dad. 

4. Haikyu!!


Haikyu!! means volleyball in English. You understand what the story is about by its meaning. Haikyu!! looks real in its action sequences like Langa Skate The Infinity. This sports series is as thrilling as skateboarding. You will not be able to take your eyes off the show. There is no season 5 of Haikyu! But a two-part movie is a possibility.

Plot

Shoyo Hinata is passionate about volleyball. He does not let his short height stop him from pursuing his passion. His impressive jumping skills make him an ideal player. He joins the volleyball team at Karasuno High School to play against Kageyama. Who will become the ultimate Haikyu champion? 

5. K Project


K Project is a lesser-known TV show than the rest on the list. Again, the plot does not focus on skating but still has some incredible moments. I listed it as the skateboarding anime because of Misaki Yota. K Project is an excellent series that is worth watching. It has top-notch animation like the ones with Misaki skateboarding.

The series shows a fictional world in Japan ruled by the Seven Clans of Color. We meet an ordinary High School student, Yashiro Isana. His life turns upside down after a mysterious murder of a HOMRA member. Now, Yashiro becomes the target of the Red Clan, HOMRA, and the Blue Clan, Scepter 4. Watch to find out why they are after Yashiro. 

6. Detective Conan


Detective Conan changed to Case Closed due to legal issues with the name. It is one of the longest-running anime series in Japan. The brilliant Shinichi Kudo is the main character of Detective Conan. The show is not a skateboarding anime but has many scenes of Shinichi skateboarding. If you like mystery, then you are going to love Conan.

Shinichi Kudo is a seventeen-year-old brilliant detective. One day, he encounters some bad guys on his way to solving a crime case. These men force him to drink a poisonous chemical that shrinks Shinichi into a fourth grader. Shinichi now uses the name Conan to solve mysteries in his child form. Enjoy his adventure as he tries to hide his reality.  

7. Yuri!!! On Ice


Yuri!! On Ice is as brilliant as Sk8 The Infinity. Every sports anime fan knows about this series. Yuri!! On Ice is R-rated and also a BL series. Yuri is a popular choice for people liking such themes. The show explores a romance between two male leads with a focus on ice skating. Yuri!!! On Ice

Yuri Katsuki had an unsuccessful season of ice skating last time. He decided not to participate in the skating championships anymore. But a video of Yuri skating a routine goes viral. The original creator of the routing is the gold medalist ice skater, Victor. Impressed by Yuri, Victor goes to Tokyo to be his coach.  

8. Ace of Diamonds


Ace of Diamonds is as thrilling as the Skate to Infinity anime. The show finished in 2016. Ace of Diamond Act II’s sequel aired from 2019 to 2020. Fans are happy to hear that there is a season 4 of Ace of Diamonds. There is no official release date yet, but fans believe it will air soon.

The story follows Eijun Sawamura, a talented baseball pitcher. The prestigious Seidou High School invites Eijun to be a part of their baseball team. Eijun will do anything it takes to make it to the nationals in the summer tournament. Will he and his team make it till the end? 

9. Kuroko’s Basketball


Kuroko’s Basketball shows some incredible performances on the basketball court. Shows like Sk8: The Infinity and this one make the sports genre more exciting. Kuroko’s Basketball finished in 2012 with a total of twenty-five episodes. There is no season 4, but a sequel movie was released instead.

Tetsuya’s brilliance on the high school basketball courts makes him a top player of his generation. He and the incredible Taiga team up to earn their High School the title of being the best one in Japan. Will they be able to beat up all the other talented players?

10. Skate-Leading☆Stars


Skate Leading Stars makes it visible by the name of what to expect. Skateboard anime characters and ice-skating anime characters look fabulous in the action scenes. Skate Leading stars have 12 episodes in total. Good news for the Yuri fans! Skate Leading Stars is like Yuri!! On Ice about male figure skating.

High schooler Maeshima is back skating to compete against his rival, Reo. Maeshima becomes eager to win the Championship title after meeting Hayato, who boosts his confidence. Will he be able to beat his competitor?  

11. Prince Of Stride: Alternative


Prince of Stride: Alternative is also another BL series with twelve episodes. The short TV show features a fictional sport called Stride, similar to Parkour. It is an enjoyable series like the Infinity Skate anime. You will like the show for its unique concept.

Nana attends Honan Academy, high school, hoping to join the Stride club. But a big accident caused the club to be inactive for years. Nana and her two classmates decide to recruit new Stride members to bring the club back to life.     

12. Wave!!


Wave!! Anime is a series that was a result of a 2020 film trilogy. The three films got divided into a twelve-episode TV show in 2021. You will not see this MC in intense action like Reki Skate The Infinity. But I can guarantee that you will enjoy it for its relaxing vibe. It is one of the most engaging swimming anime of 2020

Masaki meets a lovely transfer student Shou near the coast of Ooarai. Masaki discovers a new passion after Shou introduces him to surfing. On his surfing journey, he makes new friends. Together, they try to live life to the fullest. 

13. Gymnastics Samurai


Gymnastics Samurai is not a skateboarding anime but still very enjoyable. It has some great gymnastic scenes to keep you engaged till the end. Gymnastics Samurai has eleven episodes that are all available on Netflix. The show seems abrupt in its ending but still fun enough to watch.

Jotaro, a.k.a. “The Samurai,” is a former Olympic champion with no gold medals. His injury causes him to think of retiring. After encountering a young ballet dancer named Leo, Jotaro decides to return to the world of gymnastics. Our Leo from Gymnastics Samurai is a seventeen-year-old boy with an intriguing past.  

14. Hanebado!


Hanebado! is a badminton anime that will pique your interest. Fans were looking for something similar to Sk8. The Infinity Skateboard will love it. You will enjoy watching the characters in action with their badminton. Hanebado! is a good anime with sports, drama, and comedy.

Nagisa is sad over her defeat at a big badminton tournament. She does not feel confident about the sport and starts losing passion for it. Her team gets worried because of her pessimism. A new Olympic-level coach joins and brings along the same girl who beat Nagisa. The two girls have to work together as a team to reclaim the glory they lost. 

15. Run With The Wind


Run With The Wind is a feel-good show with many fun elements. There are twenty episodes in Run With The Wind available on Crunchyroll. It is similar to the skate anime Yuri!! On Ice but with a different twist in the plot. After Run With The Wind, you should watch Haikyuu!! And Yuri!! On Ice for more entertainment.

The story follows Kakeru getting chased down for stealing. He is a former high school runner of a prestigious institute. His luck favors him, and he meets Haiji, another University student. Haiji saves Kakeru and tells him to move into an old dorm with him. Kakeru learns that Haiji plans to enter a famous relay marathon with him. Will the plan work?  

16. Farewell, My Dear Cramer


Farewell, My Dear Cramer is an inspiring show encouraging more women in sports. If Skate The Infinity anime blew your mind away, this one will take your breath away. It is called Farewell My Dear Cramer to pay tribute to Dettman Cramer, the German footballer. He died a few days before the release of the first manga chapter. So, the creator came up with this name. Farewell, My Dear Cramer ended in 2021.

Plot 

Sumire is a fifteen-year-old girl who loves soccer. She is a good player but never seems to score a victory in matches. When Midori of the rival team blocks her, she loses that match. Fate again brings them together when they attend the same high school. The two girls decide to team up to become the best soccer players with the best team. 

17. Number24


Number24 rugby ball is as popular as the Naruto Skateboard. You will not be able to resist the charm of the characters. Their personalities shine till the end of the series. Number24 is a good anime about rugby, motivations, and personal growth. There are twelve episodes in Number24 that are streaming on Funimation.

Natsu is a former rugby player who had to quit for his injury. So, he decides to become a coach. He coaches an amateur team that needs a lot of training to become champions. He asks his friend, Ibuki, to join the team to boost their confidence. But Ibuki has a mysterious past that made him stop playing soccer in the first place. What could be the reason?

18. Re-Main


Re-Main is a beautiful anime to watch. The characters are as fantabulous as the skateboard anime characters. It has a superb animation that you cannot forget about for days. Re-Main anime is about water polo sport. The first season ended with twelve episodes in 2021. It is refreshing to watch an anime about a different kind of sport.

Plot

Minato is superb at playing water polo. His world turns upside down when hit by accident. He goes into a coma and loses his memories of the past few years. He also forgets that he was once a skilled water polo player. After returning from the coma, he again steps outside to regain what he lost.

19. Cheer Danshi!!


Cheer Danshi!! is an anime about male cheerleaders called the Cheer Boys? The show brings out a new concept in the world of sports anime. I can assure you that it will not disappoint you. Plot 

Haruki is not enthusiastic about judo as much as his family. He is happy to quit judo after suffering from a shoulder injury. At the same time, he learns his friend is also quitting the judo club at his University. His friend, Kazuma, plans to form a cheerleading team for men. They work hard to create the Breakers. Will they succeed in their venture?

20. Ginban Kaleidoscope


Ginban Kaleidoscope is the last one on the list I thought to give off Skate 8 anime vibes. Figure skating is one of the highlights of the show. It is full of twists and turns that keep you hooked. A beautiful storyline and character development will bring you joy and sadness. Ginban Kaleidoscope has twelve episodes in total that ended in 2005.

Plot

Azusa is a candidate for the Japanese Olympic figure skating. Pete Pumps is a Canadian stunt pilot. As Azusa competes in a qualifying round in Canada, Pete is flying his stunt plane. Azusa falls in the middle of her performance and loses consciousness. At the same time, Pete dies after his plane crashes. Pete somehow ends up inhabiting Tazusa’a body for 100 days.
